Gardjola Gardens

Located at the tip of Senglea (Isla), the Gardjola Gardens offer some of the most spectacular views of the Grand Harbour, Valletta, and the Three Cities. The gardens are named after the iconic gardjola (watchtower) adorned with symbols of vigilance – an eye and an ear carved into the stone, signifying the watchtower’s purpose to see and hear any approaching danger. Built by Grand Master Claude de la Sengle in 1551, the gardens and the watchtower are a serene spot, offering a panoramic vantage point that has been strategically important for centuries.

Today, the Gardjola Gardens are a peaceful retreat for visitors and locals alike, who come to enjoy the stunning vistas and tranquil atmosphere away from the bustling city life. The gardens serve as a reminder of the island’s military past while providing a picturesque setting for relaxation and contemplation.
